TVP Oatmeal and Peanut Butter Burgers

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup texturized vegetable protein (TVP)
- 1/4 cup raw oatmeal
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried herbs (e.g. basil, oregano, parsley, thyme)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder
- 2 tablespoons ketchup (we like True Foods and Primal Kitchen brands)
- 2 tablespoons coconut aminos (or soy sauce or Braggs liquid aminos)
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter (we like Justin's brand)
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon nutrional yeast flakes
DIRECTIONS
- Bring 3/4 cups water to a rolling boil.
- Meanwhile, mix together the TVP, oatmeal, and spices, except for the nutritional yeast flakes.
- Combine hot water, ketchup, and soy sauce, stirring until blended.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring until blended. Let this rest for 10 minutes, so that the oats absorb the liquid.
- Mix in the peanut butter.
- Mix in the flour and nutrional yeast flakes.
- Shape into patties.
The patties should look something like this. Fry or grill the patties.
