Apple Cinnamon Slow Cooker Oatmeal

Updated:   |  breakfast

INGREDIENTS

  • non-stick spray
  • A few cups of your favorite plant based milk (e.g. almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, but avoid coconut milk)
  • For every 1 pound of apples (after they have been peeled and cored), you want:
    • A handful of raw oatmeal (e.g. old fashioned oats)
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon chia seeds
    • 1 teaspoon hemp seeds
    • 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds

DIRECTIONS

  1. Nonstick spray the inside of your slow cooker to prevent the oatmeal from sticking.
  2. Peel, core, and dice the apples into very small, bite size pieces.

  1. Combine apples, oatmeal, 2 cups of milk, and cinnamon in a slow cooker and cook on low for 5 hours.
  2. Mix in the chia, hemp, and flax seeds and 1 cup of milk and cook on low for 2 hours.
  3. Add 1 cup of milk and cook on low for 2-10 more hours. The longer it cooks, the more moisture will be released from the apples, making a more creamy oatmeal.
  4. Turn off the slow cooker, and let the apple oatmeal cool naturally for a couple hours.
