INGREDIENTS
- non-stick spray
- A few cups of your favorite plant based milk (e.g. almond milk, soy milk, rice milk, but avoid coconut milk)
- For every 1 pound of apples (after they have been peeled and cored), you want:
- A handful of raw oatmeal (e.g. old fashioned oats)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon hemp seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds
DIRECTIONS
- Nonstick spray the inside of your slow cooker to prevent the oatmeal from sticking.
- Peel, core, and dice the apples into very small, bite size pieces.
- Combine apples, oatmeal, 2 cups of milk, and cinnamon in a slow cooker and cook on low for 5 hours.
- Mix in the chia, hemp, and flax seeds and 1 cup of milk and cook on low for 2 hours.
- Add 1 cup of milk and cook on low for 2-10 more hours. The longer it cooks, the more moisture will be released from the apples, making a more creamy oatmeal.
- Turn off the slow cooker, and let the apple oatmeal cool naturally for a couple hours.
